Is it just me, or do dads everywhere seem to like grilling? The fire, the meat, the tools, the smells, the smoke. I could go on. There's just something about grilling meat over fire that smacks of manliness. So, in honor of dads everywhere, those masters of smoke-flavored meatiness, here is a cute and fairly simple craft. It does require knowledge of crochet, but really, if you wanted to make it simpler, you could just cut a ping pong ball in two pieces, paint them black, and get on with the rest of the steps, right? So, Dad, this one's for you. Just for you. All about you. Happy Father's Day!
Hey there! So glad you came to visit me today. Things have been pretty crazy since we last met. It's the end of the school year, and for me, that means reports and getting my grade averages completed for the year. Not fun! I never enjoy reporting, but does anyone? Anyhow, it's a necessary evil, and I'm extremely thankful for the opportunity and the liberty to home school my children. A little inconvenience now and then? I'll take it! So, needless to say, time doesn't stretch as far as I somehow think it should.
My daughters and I took a couple of days to get some much-needed R&R and enjoyed a mighty fun couple of movie nights. We watched Disney's Moana (which was much better than I had anticipated) and ET: The Extra-Terrestrial. I had not seen ET in ages, and they never had, so it was an obvious choice. After that, it was time -- time to really get my hiney in gear and get those reports and grades in to my home school association. That meant no time for tutorial video-making and editing. Sadly. So, I uploaded a brief explanation video, coupled with a "just for fun" video of photos I took while we were on a field trip a year or two ago. It's not a very big place, but it's rich with history and excavations are still being done on the property.
It's easy to see that I have a little more time now. See how much longer this post is than most of my others? Thanks for stopping by! Please come again soon.
We are in our final week of school. The last week is always very busy, so we've been pretty tired. You know how it is -- low motivation, little sleep, lots of sitting down, grinding it out. With God's help, we'll make it through. I long for bedtime, when I can pick up my knitting and relax for a little while before I fall asleep. I've been falling behind on my KALs lately, and want desperately to catch up. In the grand scheme of things, though, that's a pretty small hiccup. I hope you enjoy the video! All of the links mentioned in the video are listed below. Have a happy day!
SO SORRY FOR NOT GETTING THIS UP YESTERDAY! Among school, too many mistakes, and slow internet (which was nonexistent overnight), it just didn't happen. Also, I'm flying solo. I had to shoot all of the video myself, as my daughters are trying to finish their final week of school. I really missed having their help. They are awesome and make it a lot more fun! : (
This isn't really a podcast, as I don't upload audio only for consumption on iTunes or other avenues, as others do. This is it. I'm not sure what to call it, so I grouped it with other episodes in a playlist called "Podcasts." I hope you enjoy! All of the links mentioned in the video are listed below. Have a happy day!

Mother's Day has just passed, and I am aware that there are mothers among us who have lost babies. These tiny angel wings are a good way to convey your understanding without saying a word. A small, tangible memento like this is always well received and means much more than you know.
Sometimes sweaters get snagged on things, don't they? Here's how to fix a nasty pulled loop in your crocheted items.
You know how sometimes you buy something, but it's not exactly what you want? Well, that happened to me. I decided to remake what I had into what I actually wanted. You can watch the video below to see how I refashioned my pencil pouches from Dollar Tree into trendy little zippered pouches. By the way, Mother's Day is coming up very soon. Make a couple of these for Mom. She will love them!
In this episode, I am discussing The Giveaway Winner , my recent yarn haul, and the invasive Butterweed. I hope you will enjoy each segment. Don't forget to visit Evelyn at The Thistle Hollow, and join in her #lymealong2017! After receiving many comments on my previous video about how the music interfered with the instruction, I have redone the dishcloth video. I also learned that it is harder to see the darker yarns than it is to see the lighter ones, so I chose a lighter yarn for this video. The pattern is the same. You can find the FREE written pattern on the "Free Patterns" tab right here on this website. Simply select the "Free Patterns" tab, and click on the title "Simple Crocheted Dish Cloth." A window will pop up, allowing you to download the FREE pattern. Remember, these cloths don't have to be made or used just for boring old dishes! They are great washcloths and baby cloths, too. Enjoy!
These bunnies were discovered, quite by accident, living underneath our pool deck. What a super cute Easter gift! We didn't handle the bunnies at all, because we didn't want the mother to stop tending to them. Also, we have pet bunnies, so we didn't want to transfer any potential sickness from the wild bunnies to our domesticated pets. : ) I hope you enjoy the video. Have a very blessed, happy Easter!
This little pouch is so cute and pretty. You will probably want to make one in every color. These are great little gifts for moms, friends, kids, teachers, etc. They are also cute as table decorations for weddings. They are perfect as little favor bags, but you may wish to put your goodies into a plastic bag before placing them into this little pouch, so they won't slip through the holes. : ) It is such a rewarding project, because it can be made quickly, plus it's great for beginners, as it is simple and incorporates several different stitches. For the FREE written pattern, click on the "Free Patterns" tab, then click on the title "Pretty Cross Stitch Pouch. A window will open so that you can download the PDF pattern. Have a happy day!
